CellPoint Digital has introduced PayPal as a payment option on its orchestration platform, enabling travel and retail merchants to integrate PayPal’s services through a single connection.

This update allows merchants to offer PayPal wallet payments and Buy Now, Pay Later products on digital channels, aiming to streamline checkout processes and access broader customer bases internationally.

The integration is intended to make it easier for businesses to add PayPal without increasing operational requirements.

With this development, CellPoint Digital said that merchants may see improved payment acceptance and customer experience across different markets.

CellPoint Digital chief commercial officer Shaun Donaghey said: “As travel and retail brands expand globally, they need payment solutions that are flexible, reliable, and built to perform at scale.

“With PayPal now live through our platform, merchants can offer a trusted way to pay while benefiting from orchestration capabilities that support performance, reporting, and operational consistency across markets.”

PayPal Channel Partnerships vice president Guillaume Demier commented: “Consumers expect secure, trusted ways to pay wherever they are and however they shop.

“By integrating with CellPoint Digital’s platform, merchants can activate PayPal more efficiently and bring customers greater choice, helping support growth across markets with confidence.”

Last month, a Bloomberg report revealed that PayPal attracted acquisition interest following a decline in its share price.

The payments company has held discussions with banks after receiving unsolicited enquiries.

At least one major competitor has expressed interest in acquiring the entire business, while other potential buyers are said to be interested in specific units of PayPal, as per the report.
