The new year is off to a strong start for stock investors, especially those invested in smaller companies.

The Russell 2000, which encapsulates small company stocks, is up 3.7% through the first four trading days of the year. It’s on pace for its best first four days of a year since 2021.

Compare that gain with the S&P 500, which is up 1.74%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite, which is up 2% through the first four trading days of the year. The Dow is up 2.7%.
